  2. The YMCA Logo is the most recognized logo in the world…. Here are a few Logo’s from YMCA’s around the world…..

  3. Belize New Orleans

  4. Other Logo’s you as staff of the YMCA should become familiar with are…. The YMCA is considered a safe place for you as a community to go. If any child feels they are in danger they can look for this sign and know they are safe at this facility. The YMCA has a character development program in place and we teach, and live these principles everyday. The YMCA gives scholarships to many families in the community, by participating in the We Build People Campaign we make this happen.

  5. Now you have seen logo’s from around the world and other signs from around the YMCA….. So what do you know about the YMCA Emblem?

  6. THE EMBLEM OF THE YMCA There are few organizations that have as meaningful and complicated an emblem as the Young Men’s Christian Association’s. We have a long name, and it is fitting that we have a comprehensive emblem or sign, Most people think that the triangle is our trademark, whereas it is but part of it.

  7. THERE IS A DOUBLE CIRCLE One circle is for the completeness and unity of the total of life and cosmic order. The other with the symbolism of a wedding ring, friendship and love without end among individuals. Within these circles or rings, the rest of the emblem is placed.

  8. THERE ARE THE TWO GREAT LETTERS, Chi Rho (XP) These are the first two letters of the word Christos, and in themselves the emblem of early Christianity.

  9. THERE ARE TWO TRIANGLES One standing for the trinity within The Godhead: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The other standing for the trinity within man, that of the sprint, mind, and the body.

  10. THERE IS THE BIBLE, the Holy Scriptures, open at Christ’s Intercessory prayer. The Gospel of John, the 17th chapter and 21st verse, which is our foundation text and set forth the unity of purpose of membership. The verse reads, “That they may all be one even as thou, Father, art in me and I thee, that they also may be in us; that the world may believe that Thou didst send me.”

  11. Therefore the complete assembly of all these component parts gives this great organization this emblem. This symbol is more than an emblem. It is a graphic representation of our religious, physical, and educational philosophy and reveals the essential unity of the Christian view of life.

  12. 1881 – The Ninth Conference in London approves the first Y logo, which highlights Y values by featuring a reference to John 17:21: “That they may all be one…as we are one.”

  13. 1891 – Luther H. Gulick, M.D., proposes a red triangle as the Y symbol. The equal sides of the triangle stand for “man’s essential unity, body, mind and spirit, each being a necessary and eternal part of man, he being neither one alone…”

  14. 1895 – The annual convention of the U.S. and Canadian Ys authorizes adding the triangle to the old World Alliance insignia.

  15. 1896 – The logo is simplified and a second ring is added. It is said the second ring represents friendship and love without end among individuals. This remains the Y’s official emblem.

  16. 1897 – The everyday logo from 1897 to 1967 is the red triangle.

  17. 1967 – The Y creates and trademarks the logo with the triangle and bent bar.

  18. Inside our New Logo The Y’s new visual system reflects our true identity: a caring, people-oriented organization that is devoted to the cause of strengthening communities. Our refreshed logo, for instance, is bold, active and welcoming, suggesting our determined commitment to social progress. Plus, the many colors reflect the vibrancy and diversity of our communities and activities. Bringing it to life.
