  1. Welcome to Mrs. Harville’s 2nd grade Class! Class of 2025

  2. Meet Mrs. Harville Experience: This is my 5th year teaching Hobby: Sewing and Gardening College: Indiana University Southeast Sport: TaeKwonDo Favorite Color: Purple!

  3. My Goals • To create a safe, positive learning environment • To get to know each child and their interests • To make learning fun, engaging and interesting • To help each child see their strengths so they can reach their highest potential • To create strong leaders who are college, career, and citizenship ready

  4. School Supplies • Please do not write your child’s name on their school supplies. We use shared supplies to build community and help with organization. • Items every student will need: (if possible) • Leadership Notebooks (1 inch black binders with clear plastic pockets on front and back) • Head phones or ear bud (please open the package and put in a baggie with your child’s name on it • Divider tabs • 2 Composition Notebooks • More items are on the printed list and welcomed! 

  5. Communication • Newsletter: Class news will be e-mailed each week. • Website: Class news will also be updated on the website. You can visit mrsharville.weebly.com to find information. • Please contact me anytime you have questions or concerns! I enjoy keeping in touch with families. E-mail is preferred, but notes and phone calls are welcome as well. • sarah.harville@warren.kyschools.us

  6. Homework • Each student will turn in a homework log on Fridays. • Every night students should read for 20 minutes. • During the week, your child should also practice their spelling words and math facts (addition and subtraction). • I want nights to be enjoyable for you and your child, so I want homework to be short, meaningful, and fun. I will send home ideas to help you throughout the year.

  7. Snack Time • We will have a snack time daily. • Please send in a healthy snack for your child each day. • This is a peanut free classroom. No peanuts or peanut butter please! • We welcome a large bag of pretzels if you’d like to send in something for those who forget their snack.

  8. Parent Involvement Parents! Do you have time and energy to spare? If so, please sign up as a volunteer to help in or outside the classroom. I love a helping hand! Example roles: Classroom parent, Friday parent, take it home parent, reading partner, story time teller (reads a book during snack), etc. The sign up form is by the white board. 

  9. Transportation: Yellow form • Fill out how your child will be going home on the FIRST day of school. • Fill out how they will go home MOST of the time the rest of the year. • If transportation changes throughout the year, please contact the office (send a note or make a phone call). We must have documentation before sending a child home a different way than what’s marked on the form.

  10. Before Leaving… • 1. Complete GREEN information card, YELLOW transportation sheet, and PINK allergy form. • 2. Turn in forms to Mrs. Harville’s desk. • 3. Check out the “Helping Hands” station. • 4. Meet and Greet with Mrs. Harville. • 5. Visit the gym for additional information.

  11. Thank You! • Thank you for coming in today! It’s so nice to meet everyone as we prepare for the upcoming school year. This is a wonderful time of year, and I’m thrilled to have each child in my room. We will work together to create a loving and caring environment where every student feels safe and loved. Get ready, because the kids are going to blow you away with what they can achieve as rockets! Go class of 2025!
