How To Relate To Others • Titus 3:1-4; • [1] Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, • [2] To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men. • [3] For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. • [4] But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

  4. How To Relate To Others • I. How we should relate to those around us: • A. Obey the powers that be;

  5. How To Relate To Others • Romans 13: 1-4; • [1] Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. • [2] Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. • [3] For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: • [4] For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

Not lying or speaking ill of one another; • Review from Chapter Two: • 1.The aged women—not false accusers; (Verse 3) • 2.The young women—to be discreet; (Verse 4-5) • 3.The young men—to have sound speech; (Verse 6-8)

How To Relate To Others • Romans 13: 9-10; • [9] For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. • [10] Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Love not Hate: Be gentle showing meekness to others; • Galatians 5: 22-26; • [22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, • [23] Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. • [24] And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. • [25] If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. • [26] Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

How To Relate To God • Titus 3: 5-8; • [5] Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; • [6] Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; • [7] That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. • [8] This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

  17. How To Relate To God • II. How we should relate to God: • A. Salvation is not by works; • B. Salvation by Grace; • C. Once Saved Good Works are profitable to maintain! • Note: We cannot get saved or maintain our salvation by Good Works, yet we can maintain our Christian Life by Good Works.

How To Relate To God • Who insures or underwrites our Salvation? • John 3: 15-17; • [15] That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.[16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.[17] For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

  19. How To Relate To God • Answer: God is the One who has promised us many times in Scripture that if we trust Him He gives us eternal life. This is the only true ‘Life Insurance’ • Everlasting Life: • John 3: 16; John 4: 14; John 5: 24; John 6: 27, 40, and 47; Acts 13: 46; Romans 6: 22;

  20. How To Relate To God • Answer: God is the One who has promised us many times in Scripture that if we trust Him He gives us eternal life. This is the only true ‘Life Insurance’ • Eternal Life: • Matthew 19: 16; Mark 10: 17 and 30; Luke 10: 25; Luke 18: 18; John 3: 15; John 5: 39; John 6: 54 and 68; John 10: 28; John 17: 2; Acts 13: 48; Romans 2: 7; Romans 6: 23; I Timothy 6: 12 and 19; Titus 1: 2; Titus 3: 7; I John 1: 2: I John 2: 25; I John 3: 15;I John 5: 11, 13, and 20; Jude 1: 21;

How To Relate To The Un-believer • Titus 3: 9-11; • [9] But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. • [10] A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; • [11] Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

  22. How To Relate To The Un-believer • III. How we should relate to the non-believer; • A. Avoid some things: • 1. Foolish questions; • 2. Avoid geneologies; • 3. Avoid arguing about the law; • (God’s Law/Man’s Law) • B. Reject heresy and heretics;

Relate to: Conclusion (Comply) • Titus 3: 12-15; • [12] When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter. • [13] Bring Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing be wanting unto them. • [14] And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful. • [15] All that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.
