Roshni Jamshedpur aims to remove blindness by promoting awareness, involving more people as members and volunteers, and maximizing eye donation pledges. There is an acute paucity of donor tissue despite increased public awareness. Anyone, including blind individuals, can donate corneas. Myth: Only the cornea can be transplanted, and corneas can be donated while the donor is alive. Reality: Corneas are removed after death within 6-8 hours. Corneas are not bought/sold, and the donor's face is not disfigured. Donor blood is tested for diseases.
