Provisional Diagnosis Treatment and Prognosis No treatment is recommended for median rhomboid glossitis. Although sometimes the nodular form, as opposed to the smooth flat type, is biopsied to confirm that the lesion is benign. If a biopsy is to be done the pt should first be put on an antifungal agent to reduce inflammation and erythema for a more accurate pathology assessment. Antifungal therapy is also sometimes utilized to treat any candida infection that may be present. Some common antifungals are nystatin, clotrimazole, fluconazole and ketoconazole. The long term prognosis of median rhomboid glossitis is good. Median Rhomboid Glossitis
