They have been the main voice of the private sectorpromoting best practice workplace policy, education and fighting discrimination and prejudice.

Fighting AIDS • Fighting AIDS is core to the success of Chevron’s business. • Since 1986, Chevron has been at the forefront among companies joined in the fight against AIDS. • In 2005, Chevron was the first oil and gas company to institute a global HIV / AIDS Policy for employees. • In Angola and Nigeria, Chevron implements voluntary internal prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) programs. • In 2011, Chevron pledged $20 million to the UN’s mission to eliminate mother-to-child transmission of HIV by 2015.

Challenges in Asia Pacific • Lower interest in HIV / AIDS prevention in low-prevalence countries • Lack of awareness in disease transmission • Careless sexual practices • Casual exposures - body tattooing • Stigma - more prominent in some cultures than others • Accessing unproven treatments, sometimes at great expense
