  3. Classical music in Lithuania wasn’t popular. • In the 1980s rock bands made a big impact in Lithuania music. • Nowadays Pop music is getting more popular

  4. Well-known musicians of Lithuania • Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis • Balys Dvarionas • Osvaldas Balakauskas • Andrius Mamontovas

  5. Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis (1875-1911)

  6. Čiurlionis is the greatest Lithuanian composer. • He is also known for his mystical paintings. • Duringhis life he composed about 250 pieces of music.

  7. Some works: • The Princess' Journey, A Fairy Tale. • “In the Forest” - a symphonic poem for orchestra. • “The Sea” - a symphonic poem for orchestra.

  8. Balys Dvarionas (1904-1972)

  9. Dvarionas was Lithuanian composer. • He composed a lot of miscellaneous works. • The music by Dvarionas seems to be very natural.

  10. Some works: • Opera „Dalia“ (1957 m.) • Ballet „Piršlybos“ • Music for the Anthem of Lithuanian SSR

  11. Osvaldas Balakauskas ( born in 1973 )

  12. Balakauskas is a Lithuanian composer of classical music. • His harmonic music is quite specific. • In 1996 he was awarded with the Lithuanian National Award.

  14. Andrius Mamontovas ( born in 1967)

  15. Mamontovas is a Lithuanian rock musician. • He masterminded LT United project. • Mamontovas received a lot of awards.
