  2. Introduction TSA is the Technology Student Association which fosters personal growth, leadership, and opportunities in technology, innovation design and engineering. My group reviewed TSA themes and developed a plan for the fall leadership class to run a TSA chapter at Nims Middle School. We also reviewed costs and materials which allowed us to create a budget.

  3. Team • Leader – Alex Johnson • Members - Kyle Vaughan. Ryan Huff. Joshua Mendez. Kevin Deak.

  4. Project Scope • The first bit of work we started off doing was to select middle school competitions from the TSA middle school competitions web page. • After selecting some interesting TSA competitions we each took one each as our responsibility and figured out all the needed information.

  5. Time Frame • For this project I didn’t develop a precise timeline to follow because there was only a couple things that needed to get done within the first few weeks that the project relied on being completed, like selecting which competitions to do.

  6. What I Did • As the leader of this group I instructed my team members to accomplish the goals we needed to achieve. • Things Like… Selecting Competitions. Costs and Materials. Budgeting.

  7. What I Did • I figured out the expenses of starting a new TSA chapter at Nims Middle • Figured out the expenses for the TSA competitions. • Created a budget for these expenses.

  8. Lesson’s Learned • Meet with your group in the first week and have things for them to do. • Give something small to do each week, since we have so many weeks to do it. It all adds up and requires no need to crunch towards the end.

  9. For the next group. • Contact Nims to confirm starting a chapter. • Create a precise timeline to execute the competitions at the middle school throughout the semester. • Register the chapter with TSA. • If Nims is not available contact Montford Middle School (850.922.6011).

  10. Budget • To start a chapter with 20 students it would cost just around $3,000 for chapter affiliation, dues, and uniforms and badges. • The 5 middle school competitions that we selected would cost approximately $1375 for 20 students. • Transportation prices could come close to or exceed $500. • Total costs -$4,875 for 20 students. • Exact costs of each competition and components can be found on wikispaces.
