Graduation Plans • You have choices: • Minimum/Recommended/Distinguished • Foundation Plan (22 credits) • Foundation Plan with Endorsement(s) (26 Credits) • Business and Industry-Agricultural Food and Natural Resources • Business and Industry-Manufacturing • Business and Industry-Technology • Public Service-Human Services • STEM Endorsement-Math • STEM Endorsement-Science • Multidisciplinary • Multidisciplinary-College Prep

  4. What does all that mean? Minimum- You must have special permission from Principal/Counselor. Will have to begin classes at a 2 year college or technical school. Recommended-26 Credits Distinguished Achievement Plan- 28 Credits (4 advanced measures) Foundation Plan-4ELA, 3 Math, 3 Science,3 Social Studies,2 Foreign Language, 1 Fine Art, 1 PE, 5 Electives Foundation Plan with Endorsement(s): 1 additional Math, 1 additional Science, and 2 additional credits from your endorsement area

  5. Transcripts I will meet with all Seniors in October to discuss GPA, Class Rank, and Graduation Plans

  6. Colleges • 4 year College/Universities • Public: UT, Texas A&M, SFA, SHSU, Lamar • Private: ETBU, LeTourneau, Schriener • 2 year College Associates Degree • Transferable to a 4 year College/University • Examples: Angelina, Kilgore • Technical Colleges • 2 year degree in a specialized program like HVAC, Dental Hygienist • Examples: LIT, ITT Tech

  8. SAT/ACT You need to register for these test!!!! Dates are posted outside my office or you can go to http://sat.collegeboard.org/home or http://www.actstudent.org/ *Fee waivers are available to those who meet the requirements.

  9. College athletics • You must get registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center • Must take ACT/SAT • Must have at least a 2.3 GPA

How to Pay for College • Contact Financial Aid Office at the College or Jr. College that you wish to attend. • Complete Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) • You will need your parent/guardian gross financial earnings for 2014 year. • Complete form ASAP after Jan. 1. • You will be given a PIN number. You need to keep up with that number!!! • You will get a report that tells you what financial aid you are eligible to receive. (Grants, Loans, Work Study)

  11. Scholarships • Posted outside my office. • You should not pay to apply for a scholarship. • You are responsible for turning in scholarships on time. Do not procrastinate!!! Get all information early!! • Get letters of recommendation and ask to make copies. Give a Senior Resume to who you will be having write your letters. • Complete Scholarship Outline. • Read over tips for writing a college essay.

  12. College Applications • College’s Website-Admissions • Apply Texas www.applytexas.org • College for All Texans • The Common App (8 Texas Schools. Mainly Private Colleges) APPLY TO MORE THAN ONE SCHOOL!!!!

  13. I applied, now what? • Wait for your acceptance letter. • After you are accepted: Bring Mrs. Stephens a copy of your acceptance letter, contact housing and financial aid office ASAP, schedule your Freshman orientation, and finish out the school year!
