  1. Minimalism By Larissa Grace, Ellie Chimonas, Danielle Noble, and Bijash Chauhan

  2. Dan Flavin The style of this particular artist is to take florescent lights and observe the different ways of viewing them; he was influenced to use this style by the lack of materials at his disposal, also the availability of cheap lighting, in standard shapes and sizes. This is shown in his work by the simplicity of his work. His style of work continued for 3 decades.

  3. Carl Andre The influences of this artist were his influences were poetry, drawings and some abstract sculptures in geometric forms using Perspex and wood. Carl Andre was influenced by other pieces of art such as Brancusi and by Stella, Carl Andre moved away from carving sculptures to buildings block forms out of simple materials.

  4. Ellsworth Kelly This artist had his own poetic style of using colour, form, space and line. He explored his talent through paintings and sculptures, using geometric principles. Kelly created visual statements and influenced a lot of other artist in this field of art. Kelly treated colour as a major importance in his work, and is one of the defining features in his pieces of work. He used colour to create ideas of space.

  5. Donald Judd Judd changed the style of modern sculpture being linked as one of the main ring leaders for minimalism; however this was not the style he was after. His views of his work were to ‘create simple expressions of complex thoughts’. Although his work did agree with a lot of the style components that minimalism had, he strongly rejected this as his style. His use of 3D sculptures and using industrial materials highlighted the colour and space in his work.

  6. Frank Stella This abstract painter used a series of black pictures covered with bands. After this he continued his style of work through minimal sculptures, he then continued this by creating a more sculptures however Stella decided to use a variety of different colours. His later work followed ideas of shapes and colours through paintings. He was influenced in his work by his friendships with Andre and Judd, this is clearly shown through his work.

  7. David Hiscock • David Hiscock has done more than any contemporary photographer to explore the medium’s potential for abstract, colour-field compositions. • Hiscocksays, the ambitious claim that photography has an ‘intrinsic’ privileged relationship to reality and that it faithfully duplicates our vision is, at best, a simplification, and at worst, a fundamental distortion of the relationship between ourselves, our sight, and the world out there.
