Access to Biological Collection Data: Comprehensive ABCD Data Schema Overview

This document outlines the ABCD (Access to Biological Collection Data) data schema designed for all types of primary biodiversity data, including living, preserved, and observational forms across various biological categories such as botanical, zoological, bacterial, and viral across marine and terrestrial ecosystems. It details the structure for complex hierarchical data, approximately 1,055 data elements, facilitating integration with BioCASe Provider Software and GBIF. The XML-based schema enables flexibility for additional information and highlights essential aspects such as specimen information, DNA elements, and data transformation processes using Pentaho.
