Victim Perpetrator Relationship ACQUAINTED: Known to have personal knowledge of or relationship with the victim UNACQUAINTED: Unfamiliar with or no known relationship with the victim UNDETERMINED: Relationship not yet known CONCLUSION: Over a three (3) year period, an average of 45% of our homicide victims were acquainted with the perpetrator of the homicide. Closed homicide investigations have continuously shown a definite relationship between victim and perpetrator. It should be noted that the Unacquainted and Undetermined categories are based on not having investigative proof of any relationship; however it is believed that the circumstances surrounding the incident may later prove that a prior relationship with the victim existed. 1 Dave Bing ~ Mayor, City of Detroit Chester L.   2. Criminal Activities/Motive CONCLUSION: The overwhelming motive in homicides committed in the city of Detroit resulted from an argument or demonstrated anger between perpetrator and victim.
