Mail Related Duties …. • A mail overseer has to • Check whether all the articles received for delivery have been entrusted to ABPM by the BPM • Check whether all the articles are entered in PMA device by the ABPM • To ensure D+0 by the ABPM • Examine the remarks made by the ABPM in PMA device and on the article

Mail Related Duties …. • A mail overseer should • post a test letter/card • to check the punctual clearance of letter boxes by GDSMD of the BO • know • the working hours, mails receipts & despatch timings, LB clearance timings of each BO in his jurisdiction • Nanyatha implementation status in the BO.

  6. Mail Related Duties …. • verify • the articles in deposit in the BO • Its date of receipt • Its condition & jurisdiction • The reason for non delivery • Details of Intimation served • Standard remarks

Refused • Addressee refuses to accept article for some reason Guess the Remarks…. • Not Known • Address is located, but addressee is not in that locality • Left India • Addressee in not in the country, has left without instructions at the PO • Left • Addressee gone away with no instructions to PO • Insufficient address • Address does not have door No, road No, name, street name etc • Expired • Addressee expired • Intimation served • Addressee is absent

  10. Duties – mail related Mail overseer should - • Check the Postman or GDS’s bag • Confirm the genuineness of the remarks • Check unregistered articles • Tally undelivered MOs with cash in hand • Verify VP Collection/Unpaid articles

Duties – mail related • At the BO, Mail overseer should • Check the date of receipt of these article in deposit • If any Intimation has been served • Check if any Regd article/MO is in deposit beyond 7 days • Check if the demurrage charges have been paid for VP articles in deposit beyond 7 days • Check if the articles in deposit have been entered in Red ink in BO Journal • Verify if the undelivered articles are returned to the account office, duly invoiced in BO journal/ BO DA

Duties – mail related • The Mail overseer should examine • the necessary entries to be made in the BO journal • justification for retention of articles/ MOs in the BO • if the articles in deposit are not in damaged or in tampered condition • the genuineness of signature in VP delivery receipts RULE NO 343-A OF POSTAL MANUAL VOL VIII
