  11. capacity building on statistics • Training course, Tehran, April 2009; • Workshop, Tehran, May 2009; • Need for proposals of NSOs to conduct capacity building in 2010-2011!

  12. knowledge sharing • Roster of leading expert statisticians; • Roster of consulting and engineering companies; • Roster of training institutions.

  13. regional projects on statistics • regional technical cooperation project on developing country statistics in cooperation with FAO; • establishment of investment data base with emphasis on FDI in cooperation with UNIDO.

  14. implementation mechanism • ECO statistical network • Approved by 139th CPR; • 1st test design presented in January 2010; • recommendation of the 20th RPC – to prepare for upload of the software design;

  15. harmonization • a seconded staff was employed for three months in December-March 2009; • compendium has been set up; • statistical tables updated; • need for extension of secondment to prepare the draft study on a harmonized statistical methodology.

  16. ECONOMIC RESEARCH • 1st MLERI has been convened (1-2 March 2010, Tehran); • Workshop on Implications of Global Economic Crisis in ECO countries (15 February 2010, Antalya); • Editorial Board has been set up; • 1st issue of ECO Economic Journal issued.

  17. ECO PROJECT MONITORING • 1st Meeting of ECO PMG (project monitoring group) conducted by PERS in December 2009; • Functional Methodology revised; • Guidelines for ECO projects issued; • Workshop on PRINCE-2 conducted, February 2010; • Teleconferencing session with UNOPD was scheduled for 13 May 2010; • Project updates will be issued by end June 2010 and December 2010.
