  2. Armenia Painting We conceive the future with our dreams, live with our  devotion to the best and beauty, innovate by reviving our cultural heritage. We trust in artists to show us the way... ARMENIA PAINTING - new words in Ceramics! Passion, novel techniques and inspiration from Medieval Armenian Ceramic traditions, descending from Iznik, Kuthayia, Dvin, and Ani, gendered this new direction in art, a unique and unmatched performance with splendid complexities. Our innovations go beyond the imagination of color application and design. Our dedication leads us to fashion a new ceramic art beyond established boundaries: ARMENIA PAINTING.

  3. Armenia Painting Technique At the core, building different technical layers creates our ceramics - combining the artistic disciplines of painting, drawing, o’fort, and sculpture.

  4. Know-How: Layers We start with a layer of Angoup (underglaze), followed by a glaze coating. We use glaze coating 2-3 times as a general process, and glaze as another medium of painting as on needed basis to achieve additional volume on surfaces. The remaining five or more layers are built on our technical know-how which transforms the tile/stone/glass surfaces into an o’fort (line) one. We also use unique ceramic paints.

  5. Ceramics, Stone, Glass… The selection of tiles produced by the best world producers is an on-going process. Only the finest quality tiles are used in our works (other tiles simply do not withstand continuous application of high temperatures). To date, we work on tiles that are 10x10 sm (4x4 inches) to 40x30 sm (16x12 inches) in size. Semi-precious stones, like obsidian from Armenia, porcelain and glass are also used.

  6. Kiln The pieces after “layering” are baked in our unique kiln several times up to 1100 degrees centigrade. The end product is either semi-glossy or muted. The finished tile is more firm than the original one.

  7. End result All of our hand-painted creations are water and heat resistant. Our art works may be integrated into interiors - exteriors where fine ceramics/stone/glass could be installed. Many buyers, though, prefer framed version of our art works.

  8. Armenia Painting vs. China Painting & Traditional Ceramics Armenia Painting defers from both China Painting and Traditional Ceramics (including Majolica). We apply new ceramics discipline to build additional 3-5 new layers at high temperature firing and use special ceramic paints to create o’fort surfaces.

  9. Armenia Painting vs. China Painting & Traditional Ceramics (cont.) Furthermore, Armenia Painting has overcome problems with size and thickness that pose major limitation to other methods. Tiles of 40x30 sm and potentially larger and thinner (about 0.5 sm) are used, compared to, at most, 20x20 sm thick (at least 1 sm) tiles used in both traditional ceramics and china painting. We were also able to overcome the problem of cracks that otherwise form on glazed surfaces when firing is done using either traditional or china painting methods.

  10. Armenia Painting vs. China Painting & Traditional Ceramics (cont.) Armenia Painting has concurred ceramic colors and tones that are extremely difficult or not possible to achieve by other methods. High transparency and richness of colors and tones are what distinguishes Armenia Painting.
