BAR demo

Showcase how a BAR service functions in EGEE network resources with scenarios for Bulk Transfer and Virtual Leased Line services. Demonstration excludes last-mile issues. Participating sites EPCC, DANTE. EGEE-JRA4.BAR.f2f.->.8.February.2005 BAR demo for March includes basic BAR and NSAP web services, network service requests, and command-line client. Completeness of BAR prototype demo involves both BAR and NSAP functionality with graphical client interface. Participating sites include CERN, DANTE, GARR, and CNAF. Formal deliverables and expectations discussed during EGEE-JRA4.BAR.f2f.->.8.February.2005 meeting.

Scope • Scope: • The scope of the demonstration is to show how a simple BAR service may be used within EGEE network resources and their modes of operation. • Two scenarios: • Scenario1: to show use of a BAR service to request reservation of a Bulk Transfer service from one end-site to another end-site. • Scenario2: to show use of a BAR service to request reservation of a Virtual Leased Line service from one end-site to another end-site.   4. Not Covered • The demo does not address the “last mile” problem. • Any configuration should avoid the local network. • E.g., a demonstration machine that runs a BAR service should directly connect to a NREN that runs a NSAP service (is this possible ?). EGEE-JRA4 BAR f2f -> 8 February 2005
