This guide explains the concept of fractions, decimals, and percents in a straightforward manner. Fractions divide a whole into parts, with the top number (numerator) indicating the slices you have and the bottom (denominator) showing the total pieces. Decimals represent numbers with a point, making calculations precise, and percents express fractions out of 100, helping to evaluate proportions easily. Understanding these mathematical concepts is essential for everyday tasks, such as calculating grades or managing finances.

Fractions • Fractions are things that divide things like pizza for example • Bottom number called denominator is like how may pieces in total • Numerator is how many slices you get and is top number • 3/8 means you get 3 slices of 8 total
Decimals • Decimal are numbers with a point or decimal place • 100/100 is 1.0 • 1/100 is 0.01 • 1/10 is 0.1 • 67/1000 is 0.067 • Denominator is always like 10 or 1000 or ends with all zeros
Percents • Percents are numbers from 1 to 100 • 20% means 1/5 or 20/100 or 0.2 • Percents are decimals times 100 • 0.01 *100 = 1 % • The percent sign is % • Lots of things are in percent grades, calcium, sports records
