  2. Clothing Protection: • Wear your labapron to protect your clothing from stains or burns. Eye Safety: • Wear SafetyGoggles in all labs! (ex., open flames, chemicals, etc…) • If you get chemicals in your eyes, flusheyes with plenty of water tell your teacher immediately!! &

  3. Clean Up: • Always wash your hands before and after an activity in which you handle chemicals, animals, or plants. Disposal: • Keep your work area clean at all times. properly. • Dispose of all materials Follow your Teacher’s instructions for disposal.

  4. Glassware Safety: • Handle allglasswarecarefully. • Check all glassware for chips or cracks before using it. • Do not try to cleanupbroken glass. Notify your teacher if you break a piece of glassware. • Air-dry all glassware. Do not use papertowels to dry glassware • Neverforceglass tubing into the of a rubber stopper. hole

  5. Heating Safety: • Be careful when handlinghot objects. • Turn off the Bunsen burner or other heat source when notinuse. • Use the properprocedures when lighting a Bunsen Burner. • When you heatchemicals in a test tube, alwayspoint the test tubeaway from people.

  6. Heating Safety continued… • Use a ringstand between a glass flask or beaker and the flame of a Bunsen burner. • Neverheat a closed container! • Neverpick up heated items withouttongs!

  7. Fire Safety: • Confine loose clothing and tie back longhair when working near an open flame. • Be sure you know the location of the fireextinguisher and and fire blankets in the lab. • Neverreachover an open flame!

  8. Explosion: • Use a water-bath to heatsolids. • Do not use an open flame if you are working withflammable liquids. • Do notmixchemicals together unless instructed to do so by your teacher.

  9. Caustic Substances: • Use extreme caution when working with acids and bases. Both acids and bases can cause burns. If you spill an acid or a base on your skin, flush your skin with plenty of water. Notify your teacher immediately • Nevermix acids and bases unless you are instructed to do so by your teacher.

  20. Smelly: Never smell a substance without your teachers permission! • Bloody: Never clean up blood. Tell your teacher immediately if you have cut yourself or see blood that needs to be cleaned up!!!
