  1. Watching and Warning His watchmen are blind, They are all ignorant; They are all dumb dogs, They cannot bark; Sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber (Isa. 56:10).

  2. Watching and Warning 15 Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them (Matt. 7).

  3. Watching and Warning 28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. 29 For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves. 31 Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears (Acts 20:28-31).

  4. Watching and Warning Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account… (Heb. 13:17). But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist… (2 Tim. 4:5). Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world (1 Jn. 4:1).

  5. Watching and Warning When A False Teacher Comes Into the Area, We Can Do One of Two Things: • Be silent - say nothing, give no warning. • Sound a warning - let the church know: • Call the name of the false teacher. • Warn of his false doctrine. • Warn of its destructive nature.

  6. Watching and Warning Identified the Teachers What did the apostle Paul do? And their message will spread like cancer. Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort, who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and they overthrow the faith of some (2 Tim. 2:17-18). Named the Error Gave Its Destructive Nature

  7. Watching and Warning What did the apostle Paul tell us to do? Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation! (Phil. 3:2). Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them (Rom. 16:17). Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition (Tit. 3:10). And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them (Eph. 5:11).

  8. Watching and Warning What did the apostle John tell us to do? 9 Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; 11 for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds (2 John).

  9. Watching and Warning Jerry and Don Bassett’s Error on MDR: • Redefine Adultery to be non-sexual or sexual (Pg. 73-78). • Deserted believer in 1 Cor. 7:15 is free to remarry (Pg. 79-94). • Alien sinner is not under Christ’s law on MDR (Pg. 102, 107). Christian may repent and pray (120). • Guilty party can remarry (Pg. 117, 119). • Remain in your calling - 1 Cor. 7:24 (Pg. 36-37, MDR Exposition booklet).

  10. Watching and Warning What Should We Do? • Follow example of Paul - mark & avoid. • Admonish those who practice error. • Pray that they will repent.
