Assessment conducted by: • Macon County Health Council • Special Community Health Needs Assessment Committee • Representatives from the State of Tennessee Department of Health, Macon County General Hospital, Coordinated School Health, private healthcare providers and various community agencies were consulted during the needs assessment process. • Macon County General Hospital

  4. 2010 U.S. Census Data • Population 22,248 • Median Age 38.7 • 96% White • 8,561 Households • 34% households with person under 18 • 26.7% households with person over 65

Access to Care • Health Professional Shortage Area • Medically Underserved Population • HRSA Data Warehouse statistics • 3, 205 Uninsured individuals (age under 65) • 2,808 Elderly (age 65+) Medicare beneficiaries • 998 Disabled Medicare beneficiaries • 7, 264 Medicaid beneficiaries • 22.9 Primary Care Physicians per 100,000 pop • 18.3 Dentist per 100,000 pop • 5,796 Enrolled in Tenncare 03/15/12

Vulnerable Populations According to the Community Health Status Indicators, Macon County Tennessee 2009 report: • 5,961Have no high school diploma • 866 Are unemployed • 1,212 Are Severely Work Disabled • 1,632 Have Major Depression • 1,567 Are Recent Drug Users (past month) 48.1% Kids free or reduced lunch (Kids Count Data Center, 2009)
