  4. About the NMI Testbed • Focus on the integration of released middleware components with real life use and conditions • Elements: Sites, Manager, Workshops • Integration is the point - could think of it as… • Where “EDIT” meets “GRIDS” • Where enterprise needs meet research needs • Where NMI components meet reality

  5. Testbed Participants • Planning and management by SURA • Participating Sites: • University of Alabama at Birmingham • University of Alabama in Huntsville • University of Florida • Florida State University • Georgia State University • Texas Advanced Computing Center (U Texas/Austin) • University of Virginia • University of Michigan • University of Southern California

  6. NMI Participation Implementers Target Communities NMI Integration Testbed USERS CONTRIBUTORS DEVELOPERS SUPPORTERS future expansion ? Positioning within NMI NMI Integration Testbed Sites UAB UAH UFL FSU GSU UMich TACC UVA REU Students Testbed Grid (USC) http://www.nsf-middleware.org/testbed

  7. Activities to Date • Evaluation of NMI Releases 1, 2 & 3 • Project & enterprise integration • Involvement of students through NSF REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) • Workshops & Presentations • Firing up of intra-Testbed grid For more information: Track presentation Wednesday, 3:50 p.m. - 4:40 p.m., Room 304C Track presentation Thursday, 3:55 p.m. - 4:45 p.m., Room 303D

  8. But back to fishing… If deployment is the fish, collaboration is the best bait! • Initial Call for Participation found sites with willingness and readiness to contribute • Component evaluation but within the bigger picture: • Resources applied • Process for enterprise & project integration • “Evangelism” and other synergistic activities • Sharing what is learned so everyone can learn more… • Workshops like this one • Direct input into NMI Outreach materials, e.g. case studies
