Our students at Oslo Vo Åsen • Approximately 600 students • The students were born either with learning difficulties or they have been injured i.e. by stroke or accidents • Part time students – are given the average of about 5 lessons a week • Their need is their curriculum • Individual education plan E-Lamp 2007

  4. Our Students (cont) Our students may have • Learning difficulties • Acquired brain damage • Pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties • Psychiatric difficulties • Reading – and writing difficulties (dyslexia) • Visual impairments E-Lamp 2007

  5. Individual plan • A thorough assessment is important to find which level to start education. • Long-term aim. Duration 2-3 years. The aim should be of importance in their everydaylife. • Short-term aims. Necessary aims to achive long-term aim. • The individual plan is made as a teamwork together with the pupil and those who participate in his everydaylife. • The plan is frequently evaluated.   6. Tailored equipment In Norway it is possible to apply for special equipment from a recourse institute. • Some pupils need adjustments on their computers, equipment as: • mouse / switch • monitor • keyboard • software E-Lamp 2007

Commercial Computer Games adapted to adults with servere handicaps and acquired brain injuries. ”Where do we go from here……..?” • Our aim is to give them an opportunity to communicate and to do something that gives hapiness and experiences. • Our challange: • Finding interesting adult games • Give the pupil the opportunity to play at home • Deciding how the student can co-operate with other players • Preparing games and adapt the appropriate equipment E-Lamp 2007
