  1. Organizational Sustainability International Pipeline Development

  2. Description • The purpose of International Pipeline Development (IDP) is to increase the number of students interested, and entering Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields in college on an international level. • How do we do it?

  3. Description • SEEK is a 2wksummer camp that expose students to various disciplines, activities, and gives them the opportunity to interact with current collegiate members who are majoring in STEM fields. With increases in sponsorship, or yearly revenue, NSBE could use its current SEEK model to hold camps around the globe. • Possible SEEK Camp countries: • Canada, Ghana, South Africa, Nigeria, & Germany

  4. Budget • For the year 2009, NSBE held two SEEK camps, each costing $200,000. It is estimated that each international SEEK camp would cost $300,000. This estimate is bases on the $200,000 from the US model, and $100,000 for expenses such as international flights, shipping of materials, and resources not reliably available such as computers. • If NSBE were to hold three of these camps, the total cost would be $900,000.

  5. Budget Cost for US bases SEEK Camps: $200,000 Additional Cost of International Camps:$100,000 Total Cost per Camp:$300,000 Total Cost of 3 Camps: $900,000

  6. Metrics • Internat’l Development Pipeline metrics would include • tracking of PCI members that participate in the program from their year of participation to, and through, college • tracking items such as continued interest in STEM after completing the SEEK camp, college majors, and the role NSBE played in the students interest in their chosen field of study. • For a complete list of the metrics tracked by SEEK,refer to SEEK documentation.

  7. Strategic Planning • 2009-2010 Directive of International Development • Over the years, there has been considerable growth in NSBE international memberships as well as incorporations in countries outside of the United States. However, NSBE realizes that a different approach needs to be taken when fulfilling the mission abroad.

  8. Strategic Planning • Holding international SEEK camps also fulfills part of NSBE Long Range Strategic Plan • Aligning NSBE with trends in globalization and international expansion of NSBE’s supporters (corporations, governments, and other organizations) • Opening opportunities to expand NSBE’s brand internationally • Expanding NSBE’s historical commitment to the Black community

  9. Strategic Planning • Giving NSBE potential access to information and global perspectives to share with its members, corporations, educational institutions, and governments • Building a base of foreign national students who attend U.S. colleges and universities
