Access King’s Suite • Access King’s Campus Desktop (AKCD) Any Student Computing Facility within the College • Access King’s Global Desktop (AKGD) Available anywhere! https://desktop.kcl.ac.uk Both provide access to software and file store
Web Print Service Print from anywhere to a printer on campus using “Web Print.” Available from: https://printing.kcl.ac.uk/
King’s email service • Check your King’s email regularly • You have a 10Gb mailbox • Manage your emails • Remember email etiquette • Subject line • Proper prose! • Make a signature
Where are the Student Computing Facilities? • Both the IoP and WEC Libraries • Computer Room B in the IoP’s Main Building. Lock IT up! IT security and you • Do not share your usernames and passwords • Use good passwords • Beware of phishing emails • Use anti-virus software – free from ITS Remember: King’s or any reputable organisation, will NEVER ask for your username and password in an email – Lock IT up!
Data Security • Don’t share your usernames and passwords • Patch your machines (operating system and applications) • Keep your anti-virus software up to date • Be cautious about opening attachments or following links • Ensure encrypted USB sticks are FIPS 140-2 compliant. ITS recommend IronKey – available from the Library • Secure your mobile devices • Staff members can make use of the ITS encryption service
