    3. 1 May 2012 Page 3 X2 R6 and C&W Sync For the step up to CCS R6 a new bundle was created to configure C&W X2R6 Command Only bundle to configure the backup C&C MDM prior to the transition to CCS R6 MDM configuration for this bundle was CCSR4 Prime, CCS R6 Backup C&W Sync The PRIME C&C sends get status commands to itself and then command the appropriate message state in the backup C&C MDM

    8. 1 May 2012 Page 8 Longeron Shadowing and Array Biasing There are two issues the bundle tries to address: Drag Reduction Arrays are biased to minimize drag. Required to meet propellant loading projections. Needed to meet resupply. Array-to-Array shadowing - outboard arrays (such as P6) can shadow inboard arrays (such as P4) at high beta angles (> 52) resulting in loss of power generation capability and potential longeron shadowing on the inboard arrays. Array biasing is needed to prevent this situation. Onboard software will not be available to control this until CCS R7. Therefore, there is a gap between 10A and 15A where the operator will be the primary control. Timeliner will decrease the burden on the operator. In early stages of development

    9. 1 May 2012 Page 9 Low Beta Operation (< |52| deg) The bundle will monitor orbit elapsed time At sunset, arrays are biased to the maximum values (operator defined) During insolation, two checks are performed (one in morning and one in afternoon at orbit sunrise and one at orbit noon). The lowest battery state of charge (SOC) is compared to a pre-determined value. If an SOC check fails, biasing is reduced to increase the charge rate. Low beta operation is strictly for drag reduction purposes. There are no array-to-array shadowing concerns in this beta range.

    10. 1 May 2012 Page 10 High Beta Operation (> |52| deg) Every orbit, a beta check is performed Depending on the beta angle, values for array biasing will be commanded based on pre-calculated values from engineering which will minimize array-to-array shadowing. The bundle will contain default bias values as well as the capability to command new values.
