  4. GEOGRAPHY Germany is located in central eastern Europe where there are many mountains. One of the highest mountains is Bavaria Alps Black Forest . The snow capped mountains in Bavaria are the highest point in Germany . Harz mountains have peaks that rise more than 3,000 feet . The central highlands are series of plateaus that range from nearly flat to mountains.

  8. COMMON FOODS In Germany people enjoy a variety of food . One of Germany’s breads is pumpernickel. It is a dark rye bread . Marzipan is one of Germany’s candy . A famous food is sauerkraut. Sauerkraut is pickled cabbage. Some of Germany’s popular meats are veal, pork , beef, and chicken . An every day meal is roasted sauerkraut with boiled potatoes . Limburg and Muenster are popular cheeses named after regions in Germany. There are 5,000 different types of beer in Germany.

  9. SPORTS & HOBBIES Germany has many favorite sports. In Germany snowboarding is popular in the winter. They snowboard at Bavarian Alps. Germany’s soccer team won the world cup three times. Tennis is popular as well. The famous players are Steffi Graf and Boris Becker. Other popular sports are kayaking, gardening , hang gliding, hiking and camping in the mountains.

  10. FAMOUS PEOPLE Germany has a variety of famous people in the country. John Sebastian, Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven are world’s greatest music composers. Johannes Gutenberg worked as a metal worker and he invented the printing press. Albrecht Durer was a famous painter.
