  3. WHAT IS MULTIPLICATION? Multiplication is a quick way to add together equal numbers. For example: 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 is the same as 3 X 4 However you work out the answer it will be......... 12

  4. So............. John has 3 dogs, each dog has 4 legs. How many legs are there in total??

  5. 4 + = 12 4 + We can say: 3 lots of 4 3 groups of 4 3 sets of 4 3 times 4 3 multiplied by 4 4

  6. Try these problems.... If there are 3 teachers and each teacher has 5 books, how many books are there in total? How would you write this calculation?

  9. Multiplying by 10 So you have now got the hang of using sets and multiplying single numbers what happens when we use bigger numbers?
