  1. Mary, model of faith Who is Mary for you? How important is she to you ? Would you pray to her? When ? To define “Immaculate” To explain why some people pray to Mary To evaluate if Mary is a good model of prayer

  2. Immaculate • Spotless, without stain of sin. • A special grace from God to make her fit to be the mother of God. • So Jesus could be born into a sinless human body. Explain why it was important for Mary to be born “immaculate”. Why is it important for people to know this ? .

  3. What were some of the important moments in Mary’s life ? Mindmap with your partner. The Annunciation Having her engagement with Joseph almost broken off Being visited by the 3 Kings Caring for Jesus and seeing him grow up Realising Jesus was the Son of God eg his reply when lost in the Temple Seeing Jesus do miracles Hearing Jesus’ preaching Seeing Jesus crucified, Seeing him resurrected • Watch the video. Add in any other events that were important for her that you see. Choose one and explain why that experience would have been very important to Mary. Explain what she would have learnt from seeing this.

  4. What qualities do you think Mary needed to have to go through all this ? Write next to each event on your mindmap what she needed to be like to get through it. Which quality of Mary would you most like to have for yourself ? ** How does the way she coped with her life make her a good role model for Christians?
