  1. AREA & PERIMETER PROJECT BY: Darien Gross Mrs. Togans

  2. Rectangle • Area = w × h • P=2l+2w • EXAMPLE: Find the perimeter of a rectangle when l = 5 cm and w = 3 cm P = 2 × 5 + 2 × 3P = 10 + 6P = 16 • EXAMPLE: What is the area of a rectangle having a length of 6 and a width of 2.2?The area is the product of these two side-lengths, which is 6 × 2.2 = 13.2.

  3. Triangle • P = a + b + c • Area = ½b × h • EXAMPLE: Height = h = 12 Base = b = 20 Area = ½ bh = ½ × 20 × 12 = 120 • EXAMPLE: P = b1 + b2 + c + d = 10+6+10.2+10.2 = 36.4 cm

  4. Parallelogram • Perimeter = a + b + a + b= 2a + 2b • Area = b x h • EXAMPLE: Find the area of a parallelogram with a base of 12 centimeters and a height of 5 centimeters. = (12 cm) · (5 cm) = 60 cm2 • EXAMPLE: Perimeter of parallelogram = 2(b + h)= 2(9 + 12) = 2(21)=42 inchesAnswer:Perimeter is 42 inches

  5. Trapezoid • EXAMPLE: A = (h[b1 + b2])/2, in which h is the height, b1 is the longer parallel side, and b2 is the shorter parallel side. • EXAMPLE: Find the perimeter of a triangle with sides measuring 5 centimeters, 9 centimeters and 11 centimeters. P = 5 cm + 9 cm + 11 cm = 25 cm • A = ½h(b1 + b2). • Perimeter = a + b + c + d = 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 = 18

  6. Irregular rectangle • Perimeter = a + b + c + d = 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 = 18 • A = ½h(b1 + b2). • EXAMPLE: Perimeter = 2x(14.0+16.8)=61.6 • EXAMPLE: P=2(l+w) =2(50+40) =2*90 =180
