Knowledge existing • but the application and implementation process is not in place • Requires support from research and scientific explanation for better understanding • Addition of new knowledge from research • Knowledge held in pockets and difficulties in generalization and reaching the needy target population

  16. DEFINITION “Early intervention is a term, which broadly refers to a wide range of experiences and supports provided to children, parents and families during the pregnancy, infancy and early childhood period of development” (Dunst 1996)

  17. Population requiring Early Intervention • Children with Biological risks • Prematurity, LBW, Birth asphyxia • Genitic and Chromosomal abnormalities • Congenitial defects etc • Children with Environmental risks • Powerty, Low S.E status, Single parent • Abandoned, absued child etc
