  2. The near future... • Is used to describe events that will happen in the immediate future • Translates into English as “going to” when performing an action verb • Combines the conjugated form of aller with the infinitive of the action verb

  4. Can you conjugate aller? • Je • Tu • Il/Elle/On • Nous • Vous • Ils/Elles • vais • vas • va • allons • allez • vont

  5. Now add an infinitive to say what someone is going to do • Example: Jouer (to play) • I am going to play • You are going to play • He/She/One is going to play • We are going to play • You (pl/fml) are going to play • They are going to play • Je vais jouer • Tu vas jouer • Il/Elle/On va jouer • Nous allons jouer • Vous allez jouer • Ils/Elles vont jouer

Now add an infinitive to say what someone is going to do • Example: Parler (to talk) • I’m going to talk • You are going to talk • He/She/One is going to talk • We are going to talk • You (pl/fml) are going to talk • They are going to talk • Je vais parler • Tu vas parler • Il/elle/on va parler • Nous allons parler • Vous allez parler • Ils/elles vont parler

  7. What if the action will not be performed? • Add “ne ... pas” around the conjugated verb (in this case: aller) • Subject/ne /conjugated form of aller/pas /infinitive of action verb

Example: Jouer (to play) • I am not going to play • You are not going to play • He/She/One is not going to play • We are not going to play • You (pl/fml) are not going to play • They are not going to play • Je ne vais pas jouer • Tu ne vas pas jouer • Il/Elle/On ne va pas jouer • Nous n’allons pas jouer • Vous n’allez pas jouer • Ils/Elles ne vont pas jouer
