  1. The TargetStandard 4 Students and citizens must learn the skills of working together and helping each other.

  2. Did You Know? • Good citizens are able to work together as well as individually. Working together means work can be done effectively. It makes the classroom a better place.

  3. Did You Know? • Our classrooms run more smoothly when students work together just like our country is better when the citizens work together.

  4. Did You Know? • People use work skills to complete a project. Each person must (1) know what the group is trying to do. Then (2) jobs must be divided up fairly and (3) each person willing to do the job. Finally (4) each person must be willing to work with the others.

  5. Think About It • Anne’s teacher has assigned her group a project. How could her group divide the responsibilities in a fair way? Why would it be important to be fair?

Do I Know This? • Should leaders be elected? • How should elected officials represent the interests of the people? • Why is authority needed? • How should people with authority lead? • Why might respect for authority be take away? • Why should we respect each other? • What happens if there is no respect for property?

  7. Do I Know This? • What are privileges? • What do you have to do to earn or lose a privilege? • How are rights and responsibilities connected? • How should people work in groups to get things done? • Is working in a group better than working alone?
