  2. RECAP

  3. “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10 • God wants you to be successful & blessed THIS IS YOUR DESTINATION: • JESUS COME SO THAT YOU MAY HAVE FULLLIFE & THAT YOU MAY HAVE IT ABUNDANTLY. • Decisions determine Directions. Directions determine your destination. • Every path has a predetermined destination.

  4. 12The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it. Proverbs 27:12 (NIV) Are you the Prudent or the Naïve? “Lord, help me to see trouble coming long before it gets here, and give me the wisdom to know what to do and the courage to do it.”

  5. Prov3:5 -7 “Trustin the Lord with all your heartand lean not on your own understanding;in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes Finding the path • Direction begins with Trusting the Lord. Many times – we have “Trust Issue” Syndrome. • Direction begins with submission. Submission precedes direction. • Don’t assume you know it all.

  6. The Power of Your Appetite

  7. Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Matt 7:13-14 IF YOU WANT WHAT ORDINARYPEOPLE HAVE, DO WHAT ORDINARY PEOPLE DO. IF YOU WANT WHAT EXTRAORDINARYPEOPLE HAVE, DO WHAT EXTRAORDINARY PEOPLE DO.

  8. “Your appetite will either be ruled by you, or it will rule you.” We have no idea just how powerful our appetites really are.” God Created them, but Sin distorted them. Our Appetites are never fully and finally satisfied.

  9. For the world offers only a craving forphysical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. 1 John 2:16-17 NLT • Our Appetites are described in the Bible: • Lust of the flesh (physical pleasure) • Lust of the eyes (everything we see) • Pride of life (achievements & possessions)

  10. Appetite – Ordinary People • WANT WHAT THEY WANT NOW, NOT LATER. • The younger son told his father, 'I want my share of your estate now before you die.' Luke 15:12 NLT

  11. THE MARSHMALLOW TEST VIDEO

  12. Appetite – Ordinary People • TRADE THE ULTIMATE FOR THE IMMEDIATE. • Once when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in from the open country, famished. 30 He said to Jacob, "Quick, let me have some of that red stew! I'm famished!"… 31 Jacob replied, "First sell me your birthright." 32 "Look, I am about to die," Esau said. "What good is the birthright to me?" Genesis 25:29-32

  13. His destiny was changed because of an appetite that couldn’t be harnessed. • Every single day of your life you will be tempted to trade your destinationfor a bowl of stew. • What is your bowl of stew (MARSHMALLOW) right now? • A habit? A secret? • What are you trading right now for your destination?

  14. EXTRAORDINARY PEOPLE – APPETITE • Better to be patient than powerful; better to have self-controlthan to conquer a city. Prov 16:32 NLT • KNOW LATERIS OFTEN BETTER THAN NOW.

  15. Delight yourself in the Lordand he will give you the desires of your heart. Ps 37:4 • Delight = awnag—to enjoy, it means to seek • SEEK GOD UNTIL HIS DESIRES BECOME YOURDESIRES. • God’s Appetites become Your Appetites.

  16. So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won't be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. Gal 5:16-17 NLT • For Centuries – God was called The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (The Younger brother). • It should’ve been – The God of Abraham, Isaac, andEsau. • But because of unharness APPETITE – Esau traded the ultimate for a bowl of stew.
