Enhancing Teacher Development: New Standards and Support for Higher Education

TAFE NSW has established minimum teacher training standards for new educators, requiring qualifications such as a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAA40104) or equivalent. Newly appointed permanent teachers receive two hours of professional development weekly for their first two years to enhance their teaching capabilities and individual learning plans. For promotion to Head Teacher, a minimum of TAA50104 is needed. TAFE NSW also supports further education by refunding 100% of the Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS) costs for successfully completed units.
