  1. Dinnerware Material: What to Consider Before Purchasing? Material is perhaps the first thing you consider while purchasing dinnerware or drinkware. There are different types of materials – stoneware, porcelain, bone china, melamine, and others. Each is known for its individual qualities, and pros & cons. Here is a quick guide which will help you decide the right one for your tableware. Earthen dinnerware Earthen is ceramic which is glazed and fired. It often comes at less expensive price than other kinds of dinnerware. It is usually used for hand painted designs. Thick, heavy, and rustic look are its prime features. It is not as durable and strong as other types of dinnerware. As it is porous, it can absorb liquid easily. Crystal Crystal is used to manufacture luxurious drinkware. Crystal can be brilliantly crafted to produce excellent drinkware. Be it lovely wine goblets or stylish Waterford giftware, the clear crystal can be molded into graceful, contemporary shape with unparalleled clarity. Stoneware More durable than earthen ware, stone is another type of fine ceramic dinnerware. Stoneware is manufactured by adding glass material to it. The body of stoneware is thicker than more delicate materials, like china and porcelain. It can be finished with shiny, satin or glaze textures. Stoneware is good for every day, casual use. Most stoneware is versatile to maintain, and it goes well with freezer, microwave, and dishwasher. They are not exposed to extreme temperature changes. Porcelain Porcelain and china, both are referred to dinnerware made of fine quality clay, usually comprised of quartz, and kaolin. It gives extreme durability and nonporous feature to dinnerware. It also provides the body of the tableware a thinner and delicate construction. In addition, it is also responsible for the translucent appearance of the dinnerware. Most porcelain is dishwasher, oven-safe, microwave friendly.

  2. Bone China Bone ash is combined with porcelain clay and glazed at slightly lower temperature than porcelain to give a lightweight, translucent, delicate and milky appearance. Even after its fragile structure, bone china is actually the most durable and strongest ceramic dinnerware. It is also dishwasher safe and can go well with microwave and oven. Similar to porcelain, bone china can be used for a formal dining occasion. Vitrified glass dinnerware Vitrified glass is a kind of glass, fired at a very high temperature. It is extremely durable and nonporous. I addition, it is also dishwasher and microwave safe. As it is durable, it is ideal for outdoor use.
