  2. Nutrition and physical activity behaviors are influenced by many things.

  3. What are some positive and negative influences on your nutrition and physical activity behaviors? NS

  4. Positive Negative

  5. Some influences include family, friends, media and society. All of these influences can be either positive or negative.

  6. Turn to “Influences on My Diet and Physical Activity” on page 20.Review your “My Daily Food & Physical Activity Recall” activity sheets on pages 5, 7, 10, and 11.

  7. Look at your nutrition and physical activity behaviors. On the top of your “Influences on My Diet & Physical Activity” activity sheet write 4 positive and 4 negative ways in which family, friends, media or society influenced your behaviors.

  8. Find a partner.

  9. Share and discuss the negative influences you identified with your partner. With the help of your partner, write possible strategies for overcoming each negative influence at the bottom of your activity sheet.

  10. Review your “My Healthy Eating or Physical Activity Goal” activity sheet.

  11. Based on what you’ve learned about negative influences, are there any other possible barriers that could get in the way of reaching your goal? Add them to your activity sheet. How could you overcome these barriers?

  12. Based on what you’ve learned about positive influences, are there any other people who could help you reach your goal? List them on your activity sheet.

  13. What changes did you make?
