  2. Welcome to a class that you will actually use the rest of your life!! (…unless you are independently wealthy & never have to work aday in your life!)

  3. 1. Get out a piece of notebook paper & at the top of the page write “Thought of the Day”& your name.2. Write the day of the week & date (Thursday, August 16th) 3. Copy the following “Thought of the Day" onto your paper (under the date).

  5. 4. Under the “Thought of the Day,” put a *. The the right of the *, write a brief reflection about what you think the phrase means and/or how you could apply it to your life.5. Your paper should look like this: (next slide)

  8. Knowing Someone’s Name * Is one of the most powerful tools you can ever use!!* This tells people that they are important enough for you to remember!!

  9. With OVER 1,400 students, High school can be way too unfriendly…

  13. While I’m mentioning a TEST • 1st TEST is MONDAY, Aug. 20th • TAKE NOTES! (“orientation review worksheet” • WRITE “TEST” in your AGENDA BOOK!

  14. NEXT, consider becoming a member of DECA! We have some great DECA activities planned! This is the club for students who one day want to be in business, marketing, management, or own their own business.

  23. ATTENDANCE COUNTS!! You will have the opportunity to earn BONUS POINTS by having good attendance! PERFECT ATTENDANCE (ZERO tardies, ZERO absences – excused or unexcused) will earn DOUBLE the BONUS POINTS!! Exactly how to earn these BONUS POINTS will be explained later when we go over the Course Handbook.)

CLASSROOM SUPPLIES • 3” 3-ring binder • ** Any color • ** Binder MUST have clear windows (for inserts) on the • front, back & spine • 2. 5 section index tabs/dividers • 3. 3-hole lined notebook paper • 4. Pencil Pouch – **DO NOT ASK FOR HILITERS/PENS/PENCILS!* • 5. 2 Black or blue ink pens • 6. 2 Pencils or mechanical pencils – both with erasers • 7. 2 highlighters (not magic markers) of different colors – you may select any colors

NOTEBOOKS/SUPPLIESMUST have ALL of these in class EVERY DAY! #1 – Agenda Book or Calendar #2 – HOMEWORK FOLDER - Due Monday, 8/20 #3 – COMPLETED NOTEBOOK - Due Monday, 8/20 #4 – Index Cards (250) – will be kept in the classroom for vocabulary assignments. Due Monday, 8/20 #5 – Semester Reading Book (details explained later) Due Friday, August 24th

Don’t go digging through things you have no business looking at or helping yourself to. #7. BRING YOUR NOTEBOOK & SUPPLIES TO CLASS EVERY SINGLE DAY!! This will also include your semester reading book (more on this later….).
