  13. Facts • Your base can currently accommodate 10,000-trainees per calendar year. • You have one-year to prepare for 5,000 additional trainees. • The base annex, 20-minutes away, can accommodate 3,000 trainees per calendar year.

  14. Criteria • The Air Force needs you to accommodate 15,000 trainees per year. • 12 months are available in which to meet our goal.

  15. DICTIONARY Definitions • Dormitory – ample living space with a bathroom, bed and closet.

  16. Assumptions • Your base is currently at its maximum capacity. • We can use existing facilities, as new ones will take more than one year to build and cost way too much.

  18. List Possible Solutions The best possible solution to any problem can only be derived after considering several alternatives. Be creative. If you can imagine it, you can achieve it!

  19. Barriers • Habit - “No need to change, I like doing it • this way.” • Fear - “Scared to bring up new ideas or raise • it to a higher authority?” • Inertia - “Lack of desire to expend the • energy to change.” • Prejudice - “Preference for one’s own ideas • or dislike for others.”

List Possible Solutions 1) Build new dormitories for additional trainees. 2) Use the base annex for additional trainees. 3) Use off-base facilities: commercial hotels and motels 4) Send the trainees to another base capable of handling the additional people. 5) Shorten training to ensure more weeks for room availability. 6) Triple-up trainees in rooms equipped for two people.
