  1. THEAPP.ONE From Cable to Community: A Legacy of Connection Presented by LGBTQ.ONE | Founded in Phoenix, Built for the Nation ? Executive Summary THEAPP.ONE is a privacy-first, free web platform that connects LGBTQ+ individuals and allies with safe, inclusive businesses, professionals, events, and resources—anywhere in the United States. No app store. No registration. No tracking. Just real-time access to places where you’re welcomed, respected, and safe. Developed by LGBTQ.ONE, this digital tool is rooted in a powerful legacy that began over 50 years ago in Phoenix, Arizona—with two brothers, a cable business, and an unbreakable bond.

  2. ? A Legacy of Infrastructure In the 1970s, Bill and Scott Thompson arrived in Phoenix from rural Kentucky, bringing with them valuable experience in cable television construction. They founded Thompson Communications, a company that would go on to lay the foundation—literally—for the region’s early cable infrastructure. ● Installed nearly 2,000 miles of coaxial and fiber optic cable. ● Worked with Storer and American Cable, then became a prime contractor for Cox. ● Acquired 22 cable franchises across Arizona. ● Actively engaged in industry leadership via the Arizona Cable Television Association and the National Cable Television Association (NCTA). Their work brought modern entertainment and information access to thousands of homes—particularly in rural and underserved communities. But their most important contribution would come later, shaped by personal loss and a renewed sense of purpose. ? From Personal Pain to Purpose-Driven Innovation Scott Thompson, a gay man growing up in a deeply conservative environment, faced harsh discrimination throughout his life. While he achieved professional success, he struggled with the lasting impact of that trauma. In 2023, Scott passed away at just 52. His death left a profound void—and a renewed mission for his brother Bill. “I couldn’t save him from that pain. But I can help protect others.” — Bill Thompson, Founder of LGBTQ.ONE That commitment gave rise to LGBTQ.ONE, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the safety, visibility, and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ individuals across the country. THEAPP.ONE is the organization’s flagship initiative—an inclusive technology built on a foundation of love, equity, and digital accessibility.

  3. ? What Is THEAPP.ONE? THEAPP.ONE is not an app you have to download. It’s a mobile-first web platform that works instantly on any device—desktop, tablet, or phone. It offers: ✅ Business Listings – Verified safe and inclusive places to shop, eat, work, or visit ✅ Professional Services – LGBTQ+-friendly doctors, therapists, attorneys, and more ✅ Events Calendar – Celebrations, advocacy efforts, and community gatherings ✅ Resource Directory – Support for housing, mental health, legal help, and safety It is entirely free to users, requires no login, and collects no personal data—ensuring privacy and safety at every step. ? Why It Matters ● Over 45% of LGBTQ+ youth seriously considered suicide last year (The Trevor Project, 2024) ● 1 in 3 LGBTQ+ individuals experience discrimination in public places ● More than 60% say they feel unsafe in unfamiliar areas THEAPP.ONE helps close this gap by giving people the information they need to make safe, confident decisions—especially in unfamiliar cities or while traveling. ? From Local Roots to National Reach This platform, built in Phoenix, now serves users across the country. The same spirit of connection that powered the Thompson brothers’ early work in cable now fuels a digital movement aimed at protecting and uplifting the LGBTQ+ community. From coaxial cables to digital care. From building cities to building community. From loss to legacy. ? Our Ask
