Who Is the Holy Spirit? • Why the interest in this subject? • The widespread popularity of the Charismatic Movement • The fantastic claims of “faith healers” • The multitude of confusing doctrines which are prevalent • The mystery often associated with the Holy Spirit • Why teach on this subject? • It is a Bible subject • All that must be known can be known • Many are confused, deceived and disturbed by lack of a Bible centered approach to the subject.

  3. Who Is the Holy Spirit? • The Holy Spirit is not: • A haint or a ghost (89 vv. In the KJV cf. Luke 4:1 & John 1:33) • Supernatural energy (cf. Genesis 1:2; Exodus 8:19) • The Bible (Ephesians 6:17 & Hebrews 4:12) • The emotions (Genesis 37:35) • The mind of God (I Corinthians 2:10–11) • The Father and the Son (John 14:26)

Who Is the Holy Spirit? • The Holy Spirit Is a Person: • He is described as a person… • Personal, masculine pronouns are applied to Him (John 16:13). • He is distinguished from other persons (II Corinthians 13:14). • He possesses the attributes of a person: • He has knowledge (I Corinthians 2:11). • He has His own will (I Corinthians 12:11). • He is affectionate (Romans 15:30). • He nurtures (Genesis 1:2). • He is creative (Job 26:13). • He strives (Genesis 6:3). • He is good (Nehemiah 9:20).

II Kings 9:6–7). • He regenerates (John 3:5; Romans 8:2; I John 5:1; I Peter 4:6). • He judges sinners (Isaiah 11:2; Matthew 12:18; John 16:8–11). • He frees sinners and gives them life (Romans 8:1-6, 13–14).
