SWEGRID TESTBED • Application to Science Council & KAW • ”all” centers for HPD in Sweden • Several IT-research groups • Several potential users of a GRID • Biomedical Sciences • Earth Sciences • Space and Astro Sciences • High Energy Physcis • Consists of PC-clusters with large storage capacity • Budget • 13.7 MSEK for staff and running costs • 22.5 MSEK for hardware

EGEE • Project to create European GRID • Coordinated by CERN – 7 regions • Northern region: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, The Netherlands, Norway, Sweden • Key elements are: • Reenginnering of middleware & integration • Deployment and support infrastructure • Resource partners • Regional deployment and support centers • Grid operations centers • Grid operations management • Two pilot applications have been selected • Biomedical • High energy physics

EGEE & SweGrid • SweGrid is the Swedish resource partner in EGEE • Anders Ynnerman represents Nordic countries on executive committee • We are opting for one regional deployment and support center in Sweden 4+4 FTEs • Northern Europe opts for security package • Crucial meeting at CERN on April 11th • Submission of proposal on May 6th
