  4. Bloomingdale Ave/ Alafia River Tampa Bay Polk Co. Manatee Co. SouthShore Area • Covers the geographic boundary generally south of Bloomingdale Avenue/Alafia River, west of Polk County line, east of Tampa Bay and north of Manatee County line

  5. Community Plans • Riverview • Ruskin • Apollo Beach • Gibsonton • Wimauma • Sun City Center

  6. Planning Process • Organized an Areawide Plan Working Committee • Inventoried pertinent information • Analyzed the information • Prepared Vision and Strategies and a plan of action

  7. Comprised of three components: • 1. Environmental • 2.Cultural/Historical • 3.Transportation

  8. Environmental • Typical inventory data: • Existing Land Use patterns • Corridor Plan as proposed by SCRT • Natural Features - wetlands, water bodies • Past and present planning efforts - ELAP, Land /Water linkages

Environmental –Vision Statement Our community is working to: • Achieve harmony between positive development and nature • Improve the quality of our air, water and soil • Ensure the Bay and water systems are clean and healthy • Conserve and manage sensitive lands and species habitats regionally • Support a network of environmental resources throughout South Shore
