  1. Welcome to the Fairhope Intermediate Library! by Ms. Salsamendi and Mrs. Moore

  2. Meet Ms. Salsamendi • Ms. Salsamendi has been a fifth grade teacher, a fourth grade teacher, and a librarian. • She loves to go to the beach, swim, and surf. • Her favorite book is Hatchet by Gary Paulsen.

  3. Meet Mrs. Moore • Mrs. Moore has worked at the FIS library for 10 years! • Her favorite book is also Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. • She is excited about the arrival of a grandson in December.

  4. Take care of our books! • Use a bookmark. Dog-eared pages tear very easily. • Keep your books away from pets and babies. • Do not leave books outside. • Do not write in books. • Do not peel labels off of the books.

  5. Library Rules • Come in quietly. Use the correct doors to enter and exit. • No running. • When reading a series, read the books in the order they are numbered.

  6. Always… • Ask permission to take an A.R. test • Use a shelf marker • Leave the library neat and clean. • Bring your A.R. folder, book, and pencil. If you come to the library without your folder, you will be sent back to the classroom to get it.

  7. Accelerated Reader • Keep your A.R. log sheet up-to-date at all times. • You must only take AR tests on books that are in your reading range. Tests taken on books outside your range will be deleted. • Only one book exchange is allowed per quarter.

  8. A.R. continued… • Books that are not part of A.R. are “fun books.” You may check out one fun book each quarter after you have met your goal (points and comprehension). • Save A.R. papers in your A.R. folder throughout the school year.

  9. A.R. continued • You may only test on up to 2 half-point books each quarter. • Be honest about your A.R. test scores.

  10. Box Tops and Soup Labels • Bring your Box Tops to the library with your name already written on the back to enter a monthly contest! • Also bring Campbell’s soup labels to the library. We get lots of money for new books from Box Tops and soup labels!

  11. Read, read, read! • We are looking forward to a great school year with YOU!
