  3. Foods and Nutrition • Become familiar with safety and health procedures in the foods lab.

  4. Foods and Nutrition • Develop the skills necessary for proper measuring techniques. • Gain knowledge about abbreviations, equivalents and reading a recipe. • Acquire knowledge about cooking terminology.

  5. Foods and Nutrition • Gain skills necessary for successful food preparation. • Make healthy food choices based on the government guidelines. • Plan and prepare meals utilizing the My Plate guidelines.

  6. Clothing Construction • Become familiar with safety procedures in the clothing lab. • Identify parts of the sewing machine and basic sewing equipment. • Demonstrate proper use of the sewing machine-threading, mechanics and safe operation.

  7. Clothing Construction • Gain knowledge about fabrics and selection criteria. • Understand the procedures for pattern layout and cutting. • Understand the importance of following pattern directions in a sequential order.

  8. Clothing Construction • Construct a simple project utilizing basic hand and machine sewing skills.

  9. Family Living • Acquire knowledge about the 5 areas of child development. • Understand the developmental characteristics of the preschool child.

  10. Family Living • Understand the value of play in the total development of a child. • Understand the importance and contribution of each area of early childhood curriculum.

  11. Family Living • Identify developmentally appropriate activities for the preschool age child. • Develop age-appropriate activities for the preschool child. • Write a lesson plan for each activity planned.

  12. Interior Design • Acquire knowledge about Interior Design as a career. • Understand how the Elements and Principles of Design are utilized in the planning of interior spaces. • Develop the ability to use scale measurements. • Identify online resources for design elements.

  13. Interior Design • Acquire knowledge about Interior Design as a career. • Develop the ability to use scale measurements. • Understand how to read and draw floor plans.

  14. Interior Design • Determine how color can be used in design. • Identify and create color schemes.
