John 7-12. Feast of Tabernacles. John 7:2 This feast was the start of the last six months of the Savior’s life. The Feast of Tabernacles was a time to rejoice and to express gratitude to the Lord for the rich harvest of the fertile lands of Palestine (map #2).

  2. Feast of Tabernacles John 7:2 This feast was the start of the last six months of the Savior’s life. The Feast of Tabernacles was a time to rejoice and to express gratitude to the Lord for the rich harvest of the fertile lands of Palestine (map #2). The Feast commemorates Moses leading the children of Israel to the Promised Land, the Land of Canaan. This is when the Hosanna Shout began!

  3. “Neither Did His Brethren Believe Him” John 7:5 Isaiah 53:1-5 “A man of sorrows” • Members of his own family did not accept him at first. • People in his hometown sought to kill him. • His countrymen, the Jews, rejected him. • One friend betrayed him. One denied knowing him. • In the end, all disciples forsook him and fled.

  13. Porter: Several flocks were in one fold, a porter stood guard of the door while others went and rested. Shepherd: Generally had a name for each sheep, and each sheep would come if called (by their master). The shepherds’ coat usually had a large pocket to carry a weak or wounded lamb. Hireling : Did not own the sheep, worked for the money.

  17. John 11:11Lazarus Sleepeth! The literal construction placed upon these words by the apostles evoked the plain declaration, “Lazarus is dead.” In the Talmud sleep is referred to as death (JTC, 302). v.17 He had lain in the grave four days already! The popular Jewish belief was that the spirit remained close to the body for three days, then left (JTC, 500). This was the last major miracle before the Triumphal entry.
