Job Description • Agronomy is a science and a practice that looks at agriculture from an integrated, holistic perspective www.agronomy.org • Conduct research in breeding, physiology, production, yield, and management of crops and agricultural plants or trees, shrubs, and nursery stock, their growth in soils, and control of pests; or study the chemical, physical, biological, and mineralogical composition of soils as they relate to plant or crop growth. http://www.worky.com/workypedia/agronomist-main-tasks/10/239/5795

  4. Education and Training • Must spend 4 years in college for agronomy or something similar • Can’t not go to college • A graduate degree may be necessary for some positions and is generally very helpful in the field • Should have experience in conservation field

Working Conditions • Spend time outdoors conducting research at farms, and also work indoors in the lab. • May work indoors in areas where there isn't temperature control, such as in a barn. • Occasionally wear protective or safety attire. • May travel to and from work sites in a van, car, or truck.
