  4. Levels • Overarching Standard • Big Ideas • Grade Level Standard • K , 1, 2,. 3, 4, 5, 6-8, High School • Grade Level Indicators - examples

  5. Scope and Sequence • The scope and sequence provided shows how the curriculum is predominately organized across the state. • This format is reflected in the standards

  6. Considerations • Provide a copy of the geography standards to the science department – many of the standards might be covered in earth science. • Provide a copy of the high school economics standards to the business department – many of the personal finance standards might be covered in the business courses

  7. Civics Overarching Standard • K-12 Civics: Students will develop and apply the skills of civic responsibility to make informed decisions based upon knowledge of government at local, state, national and international levels.

  8. Civics Big Ideas • Forms and Functions of Government • Civic Participation

  9. Review • Read the standard • Read the indicators • Determine where it might be found in your curriculum – use the review form – or make notes on the standards document • Are there other subjects that cover the standard? (Science, Business) • Be ready to share out

  10. Economics Overarching Standard • K-12 Economics: Students will utilize economic reasoning skills to make informed judgments and become effective participants in the economy at the local, state, national and international levels.

  13. Geography Overarching Standard • K-12 Geography: Students will develop and apply spatial perspective and geographic skills to make informed decisions regarding issues and current events at local, state, national and international levels.
