  4. Four ways to create an exercise: • Copy and edit a publisher exercise • Copy and edit a sample exercise • Copy and edit another instructor's exercise • Start with a new exercise

  5. Publisher Exercises Sample Exercises COPY ADD COPY Another instructor's exercise MML / MathXL Homework or Test Edit Custom Exercise COPY ADD CREATE New Exercise

  6. Steps for copying and editing a publisher exercise: • Select the option • Choose the exercise • Edit the text and/or algorithms

  7. Select the option to copy and edit a question from your online course. Note the reminder about learning aids not being available.

  8. Choose the question you wish to edit by using the dropdown filters. The “Book” field lists only the courses that are in the your instructor account.

  9. Edit the question text as well as many of its algorithms.

  10. General procedure to create a custom exercise: • Design the exercise. • Create a new exercise. • Enter the algorithms. • Enter the exercise. • Test the exercise. • Save the exercise.

  14. Start with an empty template.

  15. Choose a layout.

  16. Create/Edit the question.

  17. Open the Algorithmic Values List. Step 3: Enter the algorithms.

  18. Add a new algorithmic value.

  19. Enter the algorithmic value name and constraints.

  20. Step 4: Enter the exercise.

  21. Use the equation editor.

  22. Enter a short answer student interaction.

  23. Select an Answer Rule.

  24. Define the answer.

  25. Set answer options.

  26. Enter custom feedback.

  27. Regenerate values. Step 5: Test the exercise.

  28. Preview the exercise.

  29. Step 6: Save the exercise.
