  2. Milestones - 1 • James Parkinson: Essay on the Shaking Palsy in 1817 • Arvid Carlsson: Discovery of dopamine (DA) in the brain (1950s) –> Nobel Laureate in 2000 • Ensuing development of dopaminergic medication for Parkinson’s disease (PD)

  4. Parkinson’s Definition of PD • Involuntary tremulous motion, with lessened muscular power, in parts not in action and even when supported with a propensity to bend the trunk forwards and to pass from a walking to a running pace: the senses and intellects being uninjured.
