Meeting the Challenges GloballyThe Terawatt Issue • In 2004, we consumed on average the equivalent of 220 million barrels of oil per day to run the world. • 220 million barrels of oil comes to 14.5 Terawatts • To give 10 billion people on the planet the level of energy prosperity developed countries enjoy, around 2 kilowatts per person, we would need to generate 60 Terawatts. • 60 Terawatts comes to 900 million barrels of oil per day Richard E. Silver BBs • Each variety of alternative fuel should be explored and evaluated to end our current inordinate dependence on fossil fuels! • Hydrogen, solar energy, geothermal energy, wind power and eco-fuels will all play integral roles in and for our future! • There is no silver bullet, but we do have a load of “silver BBs”!

Leadership and the National Hydrogen Association • Leadership will determine our future • Transactional leadership will get the every day business done, but; • Transformational leadership is needed to bring about the changes necessary to achieve our alternative fuel source goals, energy sufficiency, and who knows, perhaps even net energy exporting status as a nation!
